Description

Domaine Introduction:
Domaine Thierry Mortet is a highly regarded estate located in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin, one of Burgundy's most prestigious wine villages in the Côte de Nuits. The domaine was established in 1992 when Thierry Mortet took over a portion of the family vineyards following the dissolution of Domaine Mortet Charles & Fils, starting with just 4 hectares. Today, the domaine cultivates approximately 8.5 hectares of vines across four key communes, including Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Couchey, and Daix. Since 2007, the domaine has been certified organic (Ecocert), reflecting Thierry's deep commitment to environmentally respectful viticulture, and is now working towards biodynamic practices. The wines are crafted with minimal intervention, using whole-cluster fermentation and aging in French oak barrels to produce structured, elegant, and terroir-expressive Pinot Noirs. The domaine has received critical acclaim, including a trophy at the Concours International des Vins Biologiques, and its wines are known for their precision, balance, and ageing potential. The 2018 vintage in Burgundy was a warm and generous year, producing ripe, fruit-forward wines with excellent concentration and approachable tannins.
