Brand History and Founder: Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka Whisky, studied whisky-making techniques in Scotland and brought them back to Japan, combining them with local culture to create a unique Japanese whisky style. The company was initially named Dainippon Fruit Juice Co., and later changed its name to Nikka Whisky in 1952.
