Vieux Château Saint André 2016 is a concentrated and elegant wine that reflects both the quality of the vintage and the mastery of its legendary winemaker. The nose offers intense aromas of blackberry, plum, black cherry, and cassis, layered with notes of violet, baking spices, licorice, graphite, and a touch of Provençal herbs . On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with well-woven, velvety tannins that provide structure and a grippy texture, balanced by vibrant freshness and acidity . Flavours of dark fruits, prune, and earthy notes of mossy tree bark lead to a long, lingering, and mineral-driven finish . This is a superb Right Bank Bordeaux that is now drinking beautifully but will continue to evolve over the next several years.

Domaine Introduction:
Vieux Château Saint André is a hidden gem in Bordeaux's Right Bank, located in Montagne Saint-Émilion, the smallest satellite appellation of Saint-Émilion. What sets this estate apart is its owner, Jean-Claude Berrouet, the legendary winemaker who crafted 45 vintages of the world-renowned Pétrus in Pomerol . Upon retiring from Pétrus, Berrouet purchased this estate in Montagne, a region known for offering exceptional value wines that mirror the quality of Saint-Émilion Grands Crus, particularly in great vintages . His son, Jean-François, now assists him in running the estate. The vineyard is planted on just six hectares of prime hillside land, with a classic Right Bank blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc . The wine is given several months of barrel ageing to ensure a smooth, harmonious cuvée . The 2016 vintage in Bordeaux is widely regarded as one of the greatest in recent history, producing wines of remarkable depth, concentration, and balance.
